The Diff’rent Strokes Curse

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC, NBC, Gossip, Video,

It’s hard to pinpoint just when the whispers began - though it’s widely-accepted that they started well before Dana Plato’s 1999 suicide. It’s possible the theory of the curse started in 1988, when Todd Bridges was tried for the murder of an alleged drug dealer. Gary Coleman made headlines the following year when he sued his parents for misappropriation of funds—and made more when he allegedly assaulted a woman in 1998. Dana Plato, broke and with no acting prospects in sight, began working at a dry cleaner’s in 1991.

If you look at each of their stories, particularly hours after , it’s not too hard to believe in the Diff’rent Strokes curse.

VIDEO: Dr. Drew Talks Tiger Woods, American Idol

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Talk Shows, Gossip, Video,

Dr. Drew Pinsky talked frankly about on a recent episode of The Insider. According to the doctor, The Meadows (where Woods is staying) is a rehab facility that primarily works with drug addicts. “Sometimes just treating the drug addiction, the sex addition settles down,” he explained. You can hear and see his comments in the video clip above.

The conversation soon turned to other topics - namely, the reality show the entire country’s obsessed with (and, sadly, I’m not referring to ). “I wonder if it’s the fact that we’ve sort of exhausted this country’s available talent,” Drew said of American Idol‘s current season, which seems to be lacking in vocal ability this year. But Idol is having no trouble in the ratings department, so something’s working out.

This Week on TV (3/23-3/29)

In the Motherhood

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (3/23)
  • The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Amy gives birth to her son and has a difficult time adjusting to life as a mom.” Unfortunately for her, society is no longer interested in single mothers of one child.
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  “Lily and Rufus make lists of their past lovers.” I think even Gossip Girl would qualify that as TMI.
  • Animal Cops: Phoenix (Animal, 10pm):  “A skunk gets trapped in an elevator shaft.” Well that stinks.
  • Table for 12 (TLC, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Betty Hayes, mother of three sets of multiples (twins, twins, sextuplets), is sent to the spa on her birthday, while the rest of the family plans a special celebration at home.” Great. More stuff for her to clean up later.

  • House (FOX, 9pm):  New episode.  “House suspects that an ER patient with a sunny disposition has a bigger problem than was initially diagnosed.  The reason:  He thinks the patient is too nice.”  I have to admit it—cheery people are a freak of nature.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  “Joe surprises Allison by buying her a used car, but Allison’s subsequent visions warn of the vehicle’s unsavory past.”  Is it a 1958 Plymouth Fury that responds to the name ‘Christine’?
